Day 8 in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica
5:45 am-
The monkey neighbors woke me up this morning. It was a different way to wake up.
7:30 am-
The kids woke up thinking they were starving so they had Froot Loops. They went outside as soon as they ate breakfast and swung in the hammocks. We looked for monkeys but no such luck. We enjoyed a cup of coffee while the kids got dressed.
9:30 am-
We headed to Playa Negra (Black Beach) with lots of sunscreen in hand. We haven't had much sun this year so we all resemble Casper. The kids had a blast on the beach. We started walking down the beach and we walked for 1.5 hours. We found crabs, seashells, fish, hermit crabs, and big waves. We finally stopped and let the kids hang out in the water and build sand castles. They were covered in sand from head to toe, but they had a blast.
2:00 pm-
We headed back and found a great little Caribbean restaurant that over looked the Caribbean and had Reggae music. It was a perfect lunch according to me. We had Caribbean fajitas and the kids had chicken. They were very happy. We have learned that their ketchup over here is different from what the kids are used too, it's sweeter.
5:30 pm-
We cake back to our little casa, and I noticed some rustling in the trees. Cali and me went back and started looking, it was monkeys!!!! She ran back and got the kids to come see. We stood there for a while and they would get in the trees right above us and just look at us. It was definitely a highlight of all of our day.
6:00 pm-
We went back inside. We all showered, washed clothes together, had grilled cheeses, and FaceTimed family. The kids are now wore out and ready for bed.
Tomorrow we go to a different city, Chahuita. We will be hiking Chahuita National Park.
