Day 13 in La Fortuna, Costa Rica

9:00 am-

We got up and started our day. The kids were starving so we went to a little breakfast area called Soda Viquez. It was good food, the kids had pancakes and we have coffee and eggs. They gave us guava jam with our toast, very sweet jam. We left there and drop another load of clothes off to wash while we went hiking.

12:00 pm-

We drove 28 minutes to the Mystic hanging bridges. We warned the kids it was a small hike, less than 2 miles. We left out the small detail of "hanging" bridges. We gave them a map and let them be our tour guide. They thought they were adventurers. We walked through the trail and came across our first bridge. Chloe and I panicked, we are both afraid of heights. My legs felt like jello going across the entire bridge, Ben and Cali found it hilarious to bounce the bridge and freak us out. I couldn't look down, so Ben took pictures for me. We finally made it across to find out there were 5 more. The kids had a blast, they saw a waterfall and critters. Unfortunately we did not spot any monkeys or birds. We finished the trail in less than 2 hours.

2:00 pm-

We headed back to La Fortuna to pick up our laundry and to drive to Liberia.

2:45 pm-

We realized that we made a complete circle for nothing, the road leading to The hanging bridges was the same way to Liberia. So we wasted an hour. The roads were so winding that we all got motion sickness. I can usually hold it together pretty well if I'm in the front seat but the roads killed me this trip. We had to even pull over for Cali a couple of times. We had to eventually find some food to get in the kids stomach. The only thing open on a Sunday evening was a Pollolandia (Chicken Land). The kids liked it. We loaded everybody up on Dramamine and headed off to finish our trip. We got to some roads that were not paved, just dirt roads. We saw a few wind mills that generate power for Costa Rica. They were pretty impressive on size.

6:00 pm-

We finally arrived in Liberia and made it to our cabin. It was a cute little cabin with a loft. It had a little restaurant and a pool that had a waterfall. Unfortunately the water for the pool was freezing, we let the kids play in the kiddie pool but we stayed out.

8:00 pm-

We drove into Liberia and looked for something to eat. The kids saw Burger King  and it was hard to get it off of their brain. So we attempted ordering, we made it super easy for Ben to order but we still had problems. Poor Ben got so frustrated trying to get his order across to them. It was funny to us but not to him. Needless to say they messed up his order. We got back to the cabin around 9 and went to bed.

Tomorrow we cross the border to Nicaragua. Wish us luck!!!
